BOLIVIA MISSIONS

2012 MISSIONS TRIP - PROJECT BOLIVIA

WHERE ARE WE GOING?
This summer we are headed back to Vinto, a small town located in the city of Cochabamba, Bolivia, a country located in central South America. Bolivia is bordered by Peru to the north, Brazil & Paraguay to the east, Argentina & Chile to the south and the Pacific Ocean to the west.

WHEN DO WE LEAVE AND RETURN?
There are several factors that still need to be determined to finalize dates, but the trip will be sometime between late July and early August. Exact dates will be announced as soon as a final decision is made. WHAT WILL WE BE DOING IN BOLIVIA?
Our time in Bolivia will focus on 3 main areas of need:
1. Spiritual: Doing various things to grow both the students and the boys and to take them deeper into what God has for them.
2. Physical: Completing a specific work project (TBD) at the Boys Home.
3. Emotional: Engaging with the boys supported by Beach Fellowship through hands on love and compassion in whatever areas of need we find.

HOW MUCH WILL THE TRIP COST?
The cost of this year’s trip is estimated to be between $1,400 - $1,700 (based on airline costs).  Payments will be due at each meeting to help make the process more manageable. Deadline for final payment is Sunday, July 15, 2012. While our team will be participating in various fundraisers, each team member agrees to commit to full payment of the trip. Fundraising monies will be returned to team members as they are brought in.

WHAT IS THE DEADLINE FOR MAKING A DECISION?
Applications and deposits of $150 are due no later than February 10, 2012.

WHAT CAN I DO NOW TO GET MY CHILD READY FOR THIS TRIP?
One of the biggest things that becomes an issue every year is passports. If your child is applying, please begin the application or renewal process. We also encourage you to pray for them and begin to speak openly with them about their desire to go and what they hope to take away from, as well as contribute to, this trip.

WHAT IS THE TIME COMMITMENT FOR PREPARING?
All Missions Team participants must be active, faithful members of Immerse Youth.  Additionally, there will be bi-weekly meetings starting in February and several team building activities during our team preparation. Because of the nature of international missions, it is imperative that all team participants be involved in this training process.

IS THIS TRIP SAFE?
Totally. Bolivia is hospitable to Americans and the Gospel. Agua Viva de la Roca church (our partner church) hosts youth trips all the time.

WHERE WILL THE TEAM SLEEP AND EAT WHILE IN BOLIVIA?
We will be staying on site in the upper room of the Boy’s Home. This area is separate and allows adequate space for both boys and girls on our trip. We will have full access to clean and functional bathrooms and showering facilities. All meals will be provided by the church.

WHO IS THE TRIP OPEN TO?
The trip is open to rising 7th graders and older. Being an active member of Immerse Youth is not a requirement for application,  but it is a requirement of being on the team. Any students accepted to the team will be expected to regularly attend scheduled youth events. All participants are chosen by the leadership team on an application basis.

WILL THERE BE ADEQUATE SUPERVISON ON THIS TRIP?
A ratio of no less than 1 adult/4 teens will be maintained the entire trip.

CAN I GO ON THIS TRIP WITH MY CHILD?
We very much want to keep this a Youth trip, so we generally discourage “parent” attendance. If we are unable to fulfill our 1 to 4 ratio through our Adult Youth Sponsors, we will solicit additional adult participation (still based on the application process). This said, if you are interested in going on the trip, please fill out and submit an application, just know that it is rare for a “parent” to be selected.
